Babies learn Mommy’s voice from all others before birth because of hearing us more often. What we’re going to do is Daddy read a book, a chapter or two at least every night. He looks up to Douglas Adams, and Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy is what piqued his interest in writing, and it would mean a lot to him if this book could be the first one read, and I think it’s a fine idea. So the first book he’ll read is Hitchhiker’s Guide, and then move onto Lord of the Rings. We plan for him to read all of this before birth. (After birth, the first book will be read by me, and it’s If You Give a Mouse a Cookie!!)
Last night he came into the living room, holding Hitchhiker’s Guide, and asked when he could start reading it, when the ability to hear starts. I did a quick search, and told him it looks like 17 weeks, so another 11 1/2 weeks from now. His face fell. He’s looking forward to starting reading so much. And I’ve never read the book, so this one will be new for me. And he’s never read Lord of the Rings, so that will be new for him.
Family bonding before birth and letting Daddy’s voice be learned. 🙂
